Tug also damaged in barge grounding incident

Wed Mar 05 11:18:17 CET 2025 Timsen

The Dutch salvage company Blue Tack has been commissioned by the owner of the Curacao flagged deck cargo pontoon 'CC Atlantique', 9119 gt (IMO: 9562245), which has remained stuck on beacon 18, one of the beacons along Flintrännan south of the Öresund Bridge, since March 1 at 4 a.m. The 'Kamarina' with the coupled barge was passing northbound through Flintrännan when the barge came too far to starboard and struck one of the lighthouses. How long it would take to salvage the barge. was unclear. The work continued on March 3, including diving at the grounded barge. Also the tug's winch is said to have been damaged in the incident. The shipping company has therefore sent another tug, the 'Carlo Magno', to the scene which arrived on the early morning of March 2. At the same time, the tug 'Svitzer Edda' has been called to assisted. Shipping was not affected by the incident, even though a navigation warning is in place.

Towed barge got stuck on lighthouse foundation

Tue Mar 04 11:30:24 CET 2025 Timsen

A barge, towed by the 'Kamarina' en route from Rönne to Sczcezin, struck a lighthouse in Flintrännan near the Öresund Bridge on March 1, 2025, at 4 a.m.. The tug with the barge had passed northbound through Flintrännan south of the Öresund Bridge on the night of Feb 28, but the barge came too far to starboard and hit one of the lighthouses, which was overturned. The barge got stuck on the lighthouse foundation, but according to the Swedish Maritime Administration, it was still possible to pass through the fairway as usual. On March 3, a contracted salvage company was working to come up with a plan for how the barge can be removed, and diving inspections were to be carried out at the accident site. After the barge has been removed and then it must be investigated what is required to replace the lighthouse. The 'Kamarina' was anchored in pos. 54° 15' N 014° 10' E near Malmö as of March 4.
