Allision in Kouderkerk

A barge pushed by the 'Joke' (IMO: 8433227, ENI: 02718496), was involved in an allision in the afternoon of June 10, 2022, in Kouderkerk. In the morning the bridge deck of the Wilhelmina Bridge in Leiden had been removed for major maintenance and loaded onto the barge. During the transport to Krimpen aan den Lek the cargo hit a bridge deck at Kouderkerk at around 1.30 p.m. After the allision, the bridge system malfunctioned, as a result of which it no longer opened, so that cyclists and pedestrians were unable to cross for some time. A contractor was called to inspect the bridge. At around 4.30 p.m. the municipality reported that motorized traffic was still not allowed to cross the bridge. The province of South Holland investigated the incident together with the police.
