Grounding in Gulf of Siam

Thu Dec 10 10:08:16 CET 2015 Timsen

The "Eleanor D" ran aground on Dec 6, 2015, at 6.12 a.m. off Phu Quoc island in the Gulf of Siam, while en route from Laem Chabang to Singapore with a cargo of more than 60.000 tons sand. The vessel was refloated on Dec 7 by the Vietnamese tug "CSB 9903" (IMO: 9625255) despite high waves and strong winds which complicated the salvage operations. After an initial attempt at 7 a.m. failed, the tug shifted to the stern and pulled the bulker off at 10.45 a.m. As the vessel did not suffer apparent damages, it resumed the voyage.
