Ferry damaged in collision with bulk carrier
The ferry "Voc Batavia" was in collision with the "Pacific Crown" in the morning of Oct 11, 2018, off Singapore in the South China Sea, in position 01 43 N 104 43 E. The ferry was en route from Tarempa in the Riau Archipelago, to Bintan Pura, upon Bintan island with 153 passengers on board. The ferry was severely damaged, and a number of passengers and crew members suffered injures: One passenger was thrown overboard, but could be rescued. The bulkcarrier safely reached Singapore and wasn’t blamed for the accident.
