Hovercraft suffered technical issue

Wed Nov 15 09:57:29 CET 2023 Timsen

Sailings of the 'Island Flyer' on its service on the Ryde-Southsea were cancelled in the morning of Nov 14, 2023, after it suffered a technical issue in the mid Solent. The hovercraft had departed Southsea as normal, but it limped back at just four knots to Ryde. Annual maintenance meant that just one vessel was available for use on the route. With the 'Island Flyer' now requiring attention, the entire operations were halted. As of Nov 15, the hovercraft was stationary in Fishbourne.

Passangers taken off after skirt inflating defect

Thu Jan 11 10:07:34 CET 2018 Timsen

On Jan 7, 2018, the "Island Flyer" with 20 passengers and four crew members on board, reported a defect of the skirt inflating in position lat 50 44 43N, long 001 08 75W. The passengers were transferred onto another hovercraft on Ryde sands. The defect could be rectified, and the hovercraft returned to Ryde.
