Detained yacht left Ajaccio

Fri Jan 03 11:36:06 CET 2020 Timsen

After four months of immobilization, the 'Idol' on Dec 26, 2019, has left Ajaccio where she had been berthed since August 28 being aAt the center of a social conflict between the crew and the owner. On Dec 28 the ship arrived in Valletta. On December 23, the owner Thomas Leclerq ad provisioned an escrow account for 2.2 million Euros. These funds were now held by the President of the Draguignan Bar and correspond to the amount of arrears claimed by the complainants. His yacht had been the subject of a protective arrest brought by six Filipino members of the crew, associated in their approach to the captain of the yacht, Philippe Frasse-Mathon, his mate and two mechanics. In total, ten people had accused the owner for several offenses related to non-compliance with labour law. Some of them worked up to 90 hours a week without a day of rest and criticized Thomas Leclercq for having circumvented French labour law by means of a fairly standard arrangement. When the precautionary attachment procedure was launched, the yacht was moored at the Tino-Rossi quay in the industrial area of Ajaccio. Two hearings had been postponed, on Nov 15 and Dec 20. A new date has been set for April 10, 2020, at 9 a.m.
