Container detached on the Weser

Fri Feb 14 11:33:53 CET 2020 Timsen

On Feb 12, 2020, three containers were detached on the upper deck of the 'Ida Rambow' on the Northsea off Bremerhaven due to the strong gusts of the storm Ciara. The ship was coming from Hamburg when at 2 p.m. shortly before entering the Weser Sea Shipping Route, the containers fell over. The freighter had started rolling at wind force 8, gusts 11, from the west. However, the containers did not go overboard, but came to rest on the ship's deck. The responsible authorities have been informed. There was no danger to shipping or the environment. The ship was only allowed to leave Bremerhaven after the affected containers had been unloaded. They contained no dangerous goods. On Feb 13 at 4 a.m. the ship sailed again and headed for Copenhagen, where it docked on Feb 14 at 6:20 a.m. German report with photo: https://www.presseportal.de/blaulicht/pm/35235/4519587
