Allision in Dörverden

The 'Helga' allided with a dolphin on the Weser in Dörverden on July 8, 2025, at approximately 2:35 p.m. According to initial findings by the the water police, the 76-year-old skipper lost control of the barge due to health problems. The vessel then hit the dolphin and sustained significant damage at the starboardside foreship, but no water ingress. The ship was subsequently secured. A check of the captain revealed no evidence of alcohol consumption, but there were indications of health problems. Employees of the Weser Waterways Authority prohibited the ship from continuing the voyage. The damage to the 'Helga' and the dolphin was estimated to be in the five-figure range. The investigation was ongoing. As of July 10, the ship was moored in pos. 52° 53' N 009° 13' E.
