Ferry ran aground off Dryna
The 'Haram', which operates on the route Dryna and Brattvåg, ran aground, with four crew members and 15 passengers on board, on the evening of Feb 9,2025, at Litleholmen just outside the ferry pier on Dryna a few minutes after leaving the port. The ferry suddenly turned 90 degrees to starboard and headed northwest at around 7:30 p.m. The ship managed to free itself unassisted after a while. Before, all loaded cars were moved to the very back of the ship, and then it used its own engine power to back off the ground and returned to Dryna under its own power at 8:25 p.m. After a few minutes, the cars were disembarked, and the connectionwas canceled for the rest of the evening. Several people drove to Solholmen to take the ferry to Mordalsvågen, and then the ferry from Molde to Vestnes. The 'Haram' suffered propeller damage, while the extent of the damage was unknown. Divers have inspected it on the morning of Feb 10. Torghatten Nord cannot move the 'Haram' until they have an overview of the damage. The connection will be operational again from 1:55 p.m. Then the reserve ferry 'Røsund' will operate the connection. Activists blocked ferry with wind turbine equipment
Activists demonstrated against the development of wind turbines on Haramsøya and stormed the 'Austevoll' which docked at Haramsøya in the morning of May 27, 2020, with construction material. Police pulled out with crews in two cars after receiving the report of demonstrations at Skjelten ferry dock just after 10 a.m. The action posed a danger to protesters, crew and passengers. Just before, the police had been notified of a demonstration at the Skjelten ferry dock in connection with the Haram wind turbine. The construction equipment will be used for wind power development on Haramsøya outside Ålesund. On March 24, the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy approved the construction of the wind turbine, as they upheld NVE's approval. However, parts of the local population have not settled with this, and for several days actions have been taken in an attempt to prevent the expansion of the power plant. Around 11.30 a.m., ther were only a few protesters left on the dock. Cars from the contractors were not allowed to drive from the ferry. Also on May 26, several people had blocked the ferry quay on Haramsøya for trailers with equipment for the wind turbines.
