Collision in Howe Sound being investigated
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has deployed a team of investigators after the collision pf the 'Haisla Northwind', towing a barge and with three people on board, with a workboat near Squamish, B.C., in the Howe Sound on Dec. 18, 2024. The workboat sank after the accident. The sole crew member aboard was rescued and treated for hypothermia. investigators were on site on Jan 23, 2025, to wait for the workboat to be retrieved from the water by the owners and the insurance company. The tug owner Woodfibre LNG said in a statement on Jan 24 it appreciated the Transportation Safety Board's role in investigating such incidents and continued to co-operate with the board throughout the investigation process.
