Medevac off Galveston

Wed Jun 05 09:25:48 CEST 2013 Timsen

An Indonesian crew member of the "SPT Challenger" was medevaced in the afternoon of June 4, 2013, after his leg was injured during mooring operations approximately 57 miles off the coast of Galveston. The crew of the "Peony", a boat that was conducting mooring operations with the tanker, contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston for assistance, reporting that a deckhand on the vessel had suffered a severe leg injury. The watchstanders launched an aircrew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter from Air Station Houston to medevac the man. The aircrew transported him to the Univesity of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston for immediate medical care.
