Grounding in Fehntjer Deep
In the evening of Oct 10, 2017, the "Gretchen" (EU-No.: 4304540) ran aground in the Fehntjer Deep with 20 persons on board during a trip on the Timmel Sea. The ship got stuck during a turning manoever upon returning to Timmel. The fire brigades from Hatshausen and Warsingsfehn and the water rescue of the communal fire Brigade were alerted as well as the fure rescue Großefehn which attended with a boat from Timmel. Another tour boat also headed towards the grounding site. Forces of the fire rescue boarded the ship and ensured there were no injuries among the passengers and the crew of two. The water rescue reached the "Gretchen" short tmie later with two boats. The boat of the fire brigade managed to refloat the passenger ship which was able to return to Timmel with own power, escorted by the fire boats. Back in Timmel all 18 passengers could safely disembark three hours after the grounding.
