Fire started in cargo hold

The local authorities were still investigating the cause of the explosion and fire aboard the 'New Wind' on Feb 26, while the vessel was docked at the Pha Rung Shipyard in Minh Duc for repairs. No injuries were reported as the vessel was unmanned at the time of the incident. The fire started in the cargo hold, where the oil tanks were located. The oil tanks have been drained due to ongoing repairs, so no threat of oil spill has been reported.

Fire in Hai Phong

Wed Feb 26 21:22:09 CET 2020 Timsen

The 'New Wind', which was being docked at a repair yard in Hai Phong, suffered a fire in the cargo hold in the afternoon of Feb 26, 2020. The fire was preceded by explosions. It was brounght under control within half an hour by firefighters of the shipyard, reinforced by city fire teams. The ship has been under repairs since Jan 30.
