Supply ship saved 95 migrants

Tue Apr 21 10:30:48 CEST 2015 Timsen

Among the 95 boat refugees that were saved by the "Normand Corona" ion Apr 15, 2015, there were several children. The youngest was a baby of one month. Vice President Sven Stakkestad of Solstad Offshore said it was a big challenge for the crew to take so many refugees at one time. The vessel picked up the refugees from Africa off the coast of Italy. The rescue operation took place in cooperation with the Italian Coastguard. All refugees were physically undamaged when they were taken on board. The "Corona Normand" has a cabin capacity for a crew of 14-15. Therefore the refugees were take care of on deck and supplied with food, water and food for 12 hours before they were taken care of by the Italian Coastguard. Solstad Offshore currently has two ships in the Mediterranean Sea.
