Two fishing vessels with fouled propellers
On Dec 7, 2016, the "Cocody DP.735057", 38,67 gt, got in distress off Port-en-Bessin. At 5:30 a.m. the CROSS Jobourg was alerted by the fishing vessel that its propeller was fouled. The trawler from Ouistreham was 3,5 km off Port-en-Bessin, with a Crew of five on board and was starting to drift. The CROSS asked the Maritime Operations Center (COM) of the Maritime Préfecture of the Channel and the North Sea to detour the patrol boat "Flamant" of the Navy which was on a mission nearby. The boat quickly arrived in the area, the crew of the "Flamant" launched their light craft, and two divers managed to clear the propeller at around 06.55 a.m., allowing the fishermen to resume their activity safely. 15 minutes later, the fishing vessel "P'tit roi - DP. 869884", 15,29 gt (MMSI: 228297000), also sailing off Port-en-Bessin, was also the victim of a net engaged in its propellers and asked the "Flamant" to assist. The crew of the f/v finally managed to clear the propeller alone, before the intervention of the "Flamant".
