Medevac off Boulogne-sur-Mer

Fri Mar 10 09:55:13 CET 2017 Timsen

On Mar 9, 2017, at 5 p.m. the CROSS Gris-Nez coordinated a rescue operation 25 nautical miles south-west of Boulogne-sur-Mer. The "La Frégate III" had informed the CROSS that one of its crew members, aged 19, had fallend down six meters into a refrigerated hold. Immediately, the CROSS conducts a conference with the vessel and the Maritime Medical Advisory Center (MCCC), which advised a medical evacuation by helicopter, and then with the Marine Medical Coordination Unit (SAMU) which mobilized a medical team of the SMUR in Boulogne-sur-Mer. A Dauphin helicopter of the French Navy, stationed at Le Touquet took off with the medical team on board. It was hoisted on board the trawler and quickly took care of the victim. He was hoisted aboard and taken to Le Touquet because of the difficult weather conditions, where he arrived at 8 p.m. for the further transfer to the hospital of Boulogne-sur-Mer.
