Grounding on Suriname River

The "Eastern Bay" ran aground in the estuary of the Suriname River on May 26, 2019, at 09.40 a.m. while approaching its port of destination Paramaribo upon its arrival from Rotterdam. The grounded reefer blocked the port appropach. On May 27 at 12.30 a.m. it was refloated with the incoming high tide and docked at Paramaribo at 02.40 a.m.

Leakage in fuel pump

The "Eastern Bay", en route from Rotterdam to Paramaribo, with a crew of 21 on board, suffered a leakage in a fuel pump in position 050 25 54.0 N, 000 44 43.0 W, 17 miles south of Selsey Bill, on Aprl 5, 2019, at 8.50 a.m. The vessel was carrying 1040 tonnes of heavy fuel oil and containers as cargo on board. The vessel arrived in Paramaribo on April 15 at 6.15 p.m.

Mechanical failure forced vessel back in port
