Ferry ran onto the shore

Coming from Slagsta in the morning of July 16, 2015, the "Freja" suffered engine problems, lost maneuverability, missed the quay and ran ashore at Ekerö in the Jungfru Sound. At 9 a.m. alarm was raised, and fire rescue, police and ambulance responded and evacuated the passengers. One of them complained of neck pains after the accident and was treated on scene by paramedics. A small amount of oil was released into the water, and the environmental protection ship "KBV 050" of the Swedish Coast Guard laid out booms around the grounded ferry. The ferry service between Slagsta and Ekerö was cancelled for a few hours during the rescue work which was finished around noon and the ferry removed. The police launched an investigation into the accident.
