Repair at Lindenau Yard Kiel

Wed Sep 10 09:12:23 CEST 2014 Timsen

The "Francisca" shifted from the Scheer Port in Kiel to the Lindenau Yard in Kie-Friedrichsort in the afternoon of Sep 9 for repairs of the bow damage caused in the collision with the "RMS Bremen".

Collision off Kiel-Holtenau

Mon Sep 08 17:48:21 CEST 2014 Timsen

On Sep 5, 2014, around 2.30 a.m. the Cyprus flagged cargo m/v "RMS Bremen" (IMO: 9617301), enroute from Aveiro to Sczeczin, was in collision with the "Francisca", which was underway from Klaipeda to Honfleur. The "RMS Bremen" had just left the locks of the Kiel Canal in Kiel-Holtenau eastbound onto the Kiel Fjord when the approaching "Francisca" ran into its port side in a bow-on-bow collision. The "Francisca" then scraped along the whole port side of the "RMS Bremen", causing considerable damage. The bow was breached, the hull dented. Also the "Francisca" suffered significant damage at port side. The "RMS Bremen" immediately docked at the North Jetty of the Scheer Port in Kiel, the "Francisca" followed around 8 a.m. Both ships were detained for investigations, and after insurance questions are resolved, repair yards will have to be found for both ships. No injuries reported. Photo report: http://forum-schiff.de/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1377&p=106883#p106883
