11 still missing off Philippines

Of the 19 crew members of the "Fortune Life", among them one Vietnamese and 18 Chinese nationalities, eight were rescued and 11 still missing. The vessel was loaded with 7,500 tons of feldspar which may have shifted. Two Chinese nationals were rescued by the "Nord Delphinus" and the "Tal Tal" on Nov 28. The Philippine Coastugard has placed the total number of rescued crewmen of the "Fortune Life" at eight, while 11 others are still missing. Earlier the tanker "Ashley" had rescued six crew members before continuing its passage to Japan. The aircraft Rescue 44 from Hong Kong was conducting an aerial survey to find the remaining missing crewmen. On Nov 27 around 11 a.m. the Hong Kong Maritime Rescue Coordination Center had received a distress call from the ship and notified the PCG about the maritime incident. The vessel was underway from Kaohsiung to Kuching, Sarawak, carrying 7,500 metric tons of feldspar. The ship had 19 crew on board – 18 Chinese and one Vietnamese.

Vessel sank - 13 missing

On Nov 27, 2015, at 8 p.m. the "Fortune Life" capsized and sank in the in the waters off Vigan in Ilocos Surin pos. 17 14N 118 01E, about 130 miles of the NW coast of Luzon island. Three merchant ships, the "Great Tang", "Yue Dian" and "Ashley", joined an SAR Operation of the Philippine Coastguard. The "Ashley" rescued six crew members alive before continuing its voyage to Japan. The search was going on for 13 missing crew members. Two SAR vessels were dispatched but could not locate the missing sailors yet. Rough sea conditions affected the ongoing search. The "Fortune Life" was en route from Kaohsiung to Kuching.
