Turbine could not be started

On the morning of June 27, 2024, the Central Port Authority of Piraeus was informed by the master of the 'Flying Cat 4' that during the process of starting its main engines in the port of Piraeus, it was impossible to start the port side turbine. The ship was preparing to set sail for the scheduled route to the ports of Poros, Hydra, Ermioni, Spetson and P. Helio. With the care of the ship-owning company, the passengers were forwarded to their destinations. The Port Authority banned the ferry from sailing until the presentation of a certificate of maintenance of class and an seaworthiness certificate by the monitoring classification society. In addition the procedure for imposing sanctions was initiated due to late notification of the Port Authority about the damage.

Main engine damage off Piraeus

On Sep 17, 2023, at noon, the Piraeus Port Authority was informed by the Master of the 'Flying Cat 4' about a damage of the starboard side main engine on the scheduled route from Piraeus to Poros, Hydra and Spetses, about 2,2 nautical miles southwest of the Piraeus port entrance. The ship, carrying 137 passengers and 17 crew members, returned to the port of Piraeus under its own power. The passengers were forwarded by the company to their destinations on another ship. The Central Port Authority of Piraeus initially banned the ship from sailing. After the repair of the damage and presentation of a certificate of class maintenancefrom the classifier monitoring it, the sailing of the ship was allowed.

Crew member injured in fall on board

In the afternoon of May 4, 2023, the Central Port Authority of Piraeus was informed about the injury of a crew member aboard the 'Flying Cat 4' which was docked in a shipyard in the region of Salamina. He fell on the to the forward salon of the ship, resulting in an injury to his left lower limb. He was transferred to a private Hospital in Attica, for the provision of medical treatment. A preliminary investigation was carried out by the relevant Port Authority.
