Tanker crew rescued Danish single hand sailor

Wed Oct 12 09:26:32 CEST 2022 Timsen

A Danish sailor was rescued by the crew of the 'Riviera 2', en route from Durban to Fujairah with an ETA as of Oct 23, 2022, under difficult conditions after he sent out distress signals in the Indian Ocean. The 60-year-old sailor was reportely safe. The man, who is from Nibe, left the Seychelles heading for the Red Sea in good weather and with a favourable forecast. But after a few days at sea it blew up strongly, which first frayed the genoa and then the ship's mainsail. The experienced sailor chose to continue with the engine, but after four days of sailing, the gearbox of the 47-foot Bavaria yacht broke, leaving it adrift in high waves. The man sent out emergency signals, which first called a car carrier and then the 'Riviera 2', whose crew brought the Dane to safety on board the tanker. Tue May 31 13:15:36 CEST 2011 arnekiel

A merchant navy officer from Jammu and Kashmir has gone missing from his tanker vessel since May 27, three days after leaving an Australian port for Singapore, his family said Tuesday. Bikram Singh, 30, second officer in the Japanese merchant navy company M.T. Yayoi Express Product Tanker, left Fremantle port in Australia May 24 for Singapore. "Captain V.K. Jha from the company's office in Mumbai called us on the morning of May 27 and told us that Bikram was missing," Bikram Singh's younger brother Paramjit Singh told IANS on telephone from his village Ramgarh, about 40 km south of Jammu. Bikram Singh, who hails from a village near Jammu, was on a ship carrying oil and chemicals. "We were told that the ship had just covered about 280 km from Fremantle port and was still in Australian waters when it was found that Bikram was not traceable.
