Ferry sidelined due to technical trouble
Due to technical problems with the auxiliary engine and emergency power system, the "Femøsund" has been taken out of service on Aug 20, 2019, and the sailings on the route Femø-Kragenæs were taken over by the ferries "Askø" and "Christine" while a new engine was fixed at the quay in Bandholm. The installation of the new auxiliary engine was now underway, and trials started on Aug 26 with the Danish Maritime Authority after compeltion of repairs. On 4.30 p.m. the ship started its first sailing Kragenæs-Femø. Crossings to Fejø were back to normal at 6 p.m., sailings to Askø-at 9.30 p.m.
Smoke development in engine room
In the engine room of the "Femøsund", a fuel pipe ruptured and diesel fuel leaked out, which was heated and created smoke development, in the afternoon of Aug 6, 2019. All cars and the approximately 20 passengers on board left the ferry in Kragenæs, and a smoke diver team found that there was only smoke but not fire in the engine compartment. They stayed on the spot for half an hour to make sure it didn't flare up again. The accident meant that "Femøsund" had to be taken out of service at a time when it was serving Fejø, while the ferry "Christine" ferry sailed people home from the Femø Jazz festival. There were a lot of cars headed to Fejø when the fire started. The Danish Maritime Authority was awaiting an inspection of the ferry.
Ferry suffers problems with manoevering system
The "Femøsund", which sails between Kragenæs and Femø, has once again been hit by problems with its new maneuvering system which had beein installed in the beginning of January. The operator Lolland Færgefart took the ferry out of service as it was deemed too dangerous to sail with the ferry when the system fails. A company from Frederikshavn, which serves the ferry, was called to carry out the repairs. The ferry sailed to Bandholm in the afternoon of Jan 30, 2019, where the repair took place so that it does not block the ferry berth in Kragenæs. The ferry sailed from Bandholm on Feb 1.
