Bottom touch in Foyne

On June 12, 2018, the "Federal Katsura", which was berthed at the port of Foynes on high water with a draft of 10.5 meters, the advertised safe draft for this terminal, at the subsequent low water touched the bottom revealing only nine meters depth of water available at berth. The sea bed was soft mud and no damage remarked. An underwater survey was to take place at the next convenient location to confirm this. Dredging was to be carried out at the berth as soon as possible. The ship left Foyne on Jne 15 and continued the voyage to Waterford.
