Falkvag disappeared from radar screens, hunted by ntelligence services
On May 19, 2016, the "Falkvag" has disappeared from radar screens bound to an unknown destination. The ship was being hunted by European intelligence services in the Mediterranean since. The "Falkvag" had been berthed in the port of Zouara, near Tripoli. Local authorities retained the passports of five sailors, but on March 7, 2016, after a notice was issued by Interpol, the ship left without permission with the crew leaving their passports behind. The "Falkvag" was then spotted in Malta unloaded and with the crew having disappeared. The vessel docked at Isla, a small town south of Grand Harbour, opposite Valletta. The "Falkvag" had been arrested on June 30, 2015, with five Ukrainian in Italian territorial waters, and searched on the military base of Solenzara in Corsica. Theh it was escorted to Marseille for a new inspection, and then released.

The "Falkvag", which was moored at the Barriera Wharf in Valletta, had to be assisted by pilots and tugs in the afternoon of Mar 10, 2016, after it grounded. The VTS received a report at 12.24 p.m. and it tugs to refloat the vessel. The situation as under control and no apparent damage or pollution were reported. Freighter intercepted for suspected human trafficking
The "Falkvag", spotted in waters off Corsica on July 1, 2015, was intercepted and checked by the patrol boat "Enseigne de vaisseau Jacoubet" of the French Navy under suspicion of human trafficking. They inspected the vessel, but no migrants were found, and it continued the voyage. The ship with a crew of five Ukrainians was en route to Marseille with a cargo of scrap. The fact that it was spotted in Libyan waters for several days, and aggravated by vessel’s age, flag and owner, raised the suspicions of a probable human trafficking. It was escorted by the "Abeille Flandre" and the patrol boat on its further voyage to port.
