One dead and three injured in engine fire

One crew member of the 'Everwin Star II' died, and three others were injured when the engine of the ship caught fire after exploding while docked at Vitas Pier 18 in Mel Lopez Blvd., Brgy. 101, Tondo, Manila on Aug 26, 2024. The victim, Timothy James Lumagui Rivera, is a native of Pangasinan. Louie Belen, 21, Alfred De Leon Mind, 24; and Ronaldo Bernardo Ampatin, 43, suffered injuries. The had been helping the victim to load the cargo, Lumagui went to the front of the ship to turn off the hydraulic machine. An explosion from the forecastle on the lower deck of the ship caused severe burns to the three survivors. Lumagui was burned to death. The injured were rushed to hospital.
