Vehicles carrier rescued 22 distressed migrants

An SAR operation for 22 boat people, among thems (19 men and three boysm was carried out 77 nautical meters west of Paleochora, Crete, under the coordination of the Unified SAR Coordination Center, which was informed on Sep 24, 2023, at midday abouat a disabled boat with a sufficient number of migrants on board. A total of five passing ships were engaged in the search as well as one patrol boat. The troubled boat was spotted by the 'Eurocargo Valencia', en route from Valencia to Ashdod, and which safely picked up the 22 people. Afterwards, they were transferred to a patrol boat. and were transferred to the Tigani port of Paleochora, where they are temporarily housed in a quarantine area within the port, after providing first aid. A preliminary investigation is carried out by the Paleochora Port Station of the Central Port Authority of Chania.
