46 boat people rescued in two missions

In the night of Oct 11, 2022, the CROSS Gris-Nez identified several boats in difficulty in the Strait of Pas-de-Calais. The 'Esteron' was engaged twice. In the middle of the night, it assisted a boat with 30 people on board in the Authie Bay. The castaways were picked up. Then the patrol boat was deplöyed to another boat with 16 people on board off Fort-Mahon, who were recovered too. The castaways were then dropped off at the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer, where they were taken care of by the departmental fire and rescue service and the border police.

Esteron picked up fisherman lost over board off Arromanches

The 'Esteron' was called to assist after a fisherman fell over borg the f/v 'L'Ami Sincere' off Arromanches-les-Bains (Calvados), on Sep 8, 2021. The CROSS Jobourg received a distress call from the fishing vessel after the accident. Another member of the crew jumped over board to rescue him. The CROSS immediately broadcasted a Mayday Relay. A Caiman helicopter of the French Navy base in Maupertus, with a medical team on board, the trawler 'Louis-André', the police boat 'Pavois' and the customs boat 'Vent D’Amont' were deployed to the scene besides the 'Esteron'. The crew member who jumped into the water was picked up by Le 'Pavois'. The person who fell into the water is picked up by the 'Esteron'. The medical team was quickly dropped off on the ship to take care of the castaway. He was then hoisted and evacuated by the Caïman Marine helicopter to Le Havre hospital but did not survive.
