Detention in Mersin

Collision in the Dardanelles

Enroute from Tripoli to Constanta the "Esperanza" was in collision with the Eceabat-Çanakkale ferry "Ezine" on Apr 3, 2016, a quarter past midnight while transiting the Dardanelles in South-North direction. The tugs "Kurtarma 4" and "Nazim Tur" were dispatched to the accident site. The "Esperanza" was anchored in the Poyraz Bay for surveys with damage to the bulbous bow. The ferry suffered damage to the starboard side hull, bulwark and superstructure and berthed at the Çanakkale ferry pier. Also vehicles carried on deck of the ferry were damaged.
