Elbsea became Elbteam

Sun Apr 24 15:18:52 CEST 2022 Timsen

On April 19, 2022, the 'Elbteam' appeared freshly repainted and renamed after a yard stay in Drochtersen from 'Elbsea'. She now displays a hull reading "SV Drochtersen/Assel" and a logo on the superstructure that do not refer to a shipping line. The Elbdeich Reederei had decided to dedicate the vessel to visually support the local soccer club, and this also explains the appropriate renaming.

Generator failure in Norrköping

Wed Nov 10 10:47:50 CET 2021 Timsen

On Nov 2, 2021, the 'Elbsea' suffered a damage to the engine room generator in Norrköping. The incident did not result in injuries or pollution. The ship left the port on Nov 3 at 12.30 a.m., heade to Bremerhaven, where it arrived on Nov 4 at 10.30 p.m. The Gabinete de Investigação de Acidentes Marítimos e da Autoridade para a Meteorologia Aeronáutica (GAMA) in Lisbon was notified and has started an investigation along with its Swedish counterpart, the maritime safety investigation office.

Bottom touch in Hamburg

Wed Nov 04 19:25:27 CET 2015 Timsen

In the morning of Nov 2, 2015, the "Sylt" suffered bottom touch in the port of Hamburg. Only some time later a water pollution resulting from the grounding became visible. The ship had meanwhile left Hamburg at 4 p.m. and proceeded to Bremerhaven where it berthed at the Strom Quay on Nov 3 at 6.30 a.m. When police officers boarded the ship then, they remarked, that oil was leaking from the bow region into the Weser and spilt on 800 m². The lost oil could not be recovered. The loss of more oil could be stopped then. The captain had already remarked damage to the bow thruster and oil loss in the hydraulic system when berthing the ship. Investigations were thus launched against the 37 year old Philippino. He had to pay a safety fine of 7000 Euro accordingly. The Police also remarked that there were not as many crew members as required aboard. One man was missing. The ship was detained but meanwhile released and left Bremerhaven on Nov 4 at 2.45 a.m. bound for Copenhagen.
