Damaged wheelhouse repaired in Duisburg

Allision in Oberhausen
On Jan 26, 2017, at 7 p.m. "Geja S", 2200 ts (EU-No.: 02322710), which had sailed from Bottrop at 5.50 p.m. and was enroute to Duisburg, allided with the Sterkrade Road Bridge of the Konrad-Adenauer-Allee crossing the Rhein-Herne-Canal in Oberhausen, suffering a damage of more than 50.000 Euro. Possibly the 70 year old master misjudged the passage height of 4,5 meters, and the wheelhouse hit the bridge and was almost completely destroyed. The master was not injured. The bridge did not sustain damage. The police launched an investigation into the accident.
