Medevac off Galveston
The US Coast Guard medevaced a crew member from the "Paramount Hanover" 92 miles offshore of Galveston, Texas, on Oct 5, 2019. The Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a request from the captain of the crude oil tanker for the medevac of a 20-year-old male crewmember who was suffering from extreme abdominal pain. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon who recommended the medevac. A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and an Air Station Corpus Christi HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew were launched to the crude oil tanker. The Air Station Houston helicopter crew hoisted the patient and transferred him to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where he was reported to be in stable condition.
