Dukhan gets world's first green certification for LNG tankers

Sun Oct 30 09:58:58 CET 2011 arnekiel

Qatargas-chartered Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) vessel, "Dukhan" received world's first ever Green Award certificate of recognition, for a specific LNG vessel, acknowledging the vessel's compliance with global environment regulations and safety standards. The Green Award for SS Dukhan was presented, in recognition of this milestone, to the vessel operator MOL LNG Transport (Europe) Ltd in the presence of Abdurrahman Al Mulla, Qatargas' Shipping Manager by Jan Fransen, Managing Director of Green Award, at a ceremony onboard the vessel recently, whilst she was alongside at the Ras Laffan Industrial City Port, Doha. This is the first time in the Foundation's 18-year history that such a vessel has received this Award. The Green Award for LNG carriers comes from the Green Award scheme, established in 1994, in order to promote quality shipping amongst sea-going vessels.
