Allision in Culebra island

Fri Apr 23 09:54:25 CEST 2021 Timsen

The 'Don Jaime' along with the Puerto Rican flagged deck barge 'Marilin H', 1946 gt, allided with a pier and ran aground in Culebra Island during docking maneuvers at the island’s Ensenada Honda auxiliary cargo dock on Aril 20, 2021. The US Coast Guard was conducting a preliminary assessment as part of the investigation. Both tug and barge have been refloated, and there were no reports of injuries, of an oil discharge or sheening in the surrounding waters. The vessel owner coordinated dive operations that were conducted in the morning of April 21 to assess any potential damage to the hulls. The tug was carrying approximately 7,000 gallons of diesel fuel in its tanks.
