Bulk carrier of Ership Group fleet rescued yacht crew

The “Dominica” has assisted a sailing vessel with three Spanish crew members on board on the Atlantic coast on Jan 30, 2025. The vessel was en route to Praia (Cape Verde), off Mauritania, when it received a notice from the National Rescue Coordination Centre (CNCS) requesting assistance in the search for a sailing vessel whose radio beacon had been activated. At 2:50 p.m. UTC, the vessel “Dominica”, which was carrying a cargo of bulk cement, diverted to the position, and assisted the yacht crew amid adverse weather conditions, who boarded the vessel safely. On Feb1 1, the three sailors were accompanied to the Spanish Consulate in Praia by the immigration authorities and the shipping agency, after verifying their good condition.

Cargo ship assisted distressed migrants

An inflatable boat with 54 people on board was intercepted on Aug 21, 2023, at dawn on on its way to Lanzarote. At around 3:15 a.m., the Comprehensive Exterior Surveillance System (SIVE) detected a suspicious signal some 15 nautical miles southeast of the Teguise coast. The 'Dominica', en route from Mindelo to Safi, which was in the area, was notified and requsted to assist, until the 'Salvamar Al Nair' , which was deployed by Salvamento MArítimo, had arrived. The SAR boat rescued 41 men, 12 women and one minor at around 6:28 a.m., all of sub-Saharan origin and in apparent good health. The migrants, were disembarked in Puerto Naos, in Arrecife, while the boat was adrift.
