Yacht stuck off Lippe - local DGzRS boat unable to assist

Fri May 03 11:55:23 CEST 2019 Timsen

On April 23, 2019, the "Diver One" ran aground off the private port of Lippe when trying to approach it after a child on board became seasick. The boat got stuck in the surf, but the local DGzRS lifeboat "Woltera" was unable to assist as it was stuck within the port since months as shallows had built up in the entrance and the private port owner refused to dig it out. The lifeboat "Berlin" of the DGzRS station was called at 3.40 p.m. and arrived on scene at 4.30 p.m. The daughter boat "Steppke" was launched and managed to pull the yacht with its crew off. Ignoring the advice of the lifeboat crew, the yacht then headed to Heiligenhafen in spite of the strong wind and finally arrived in port at 9.20 p.m. It sailed again on April 24 and headed to Wismar, where it berthed in the port's marina at 3 p.m. German report with photos and video: https://www.kn-online.de/Lokales/Ploen/Seenot-vor-Hafeneinfahrt-Retter-aus-Lippe-koennen-nicht-helfen
