Tanker fined for breach of MARPOL regulations

On April 30, 2020, the 'St Marseille' was imposed a fine by the local environmental pollution prevention department due to a breach of local regulations as per Marpol rules, at Iskenderun on April 30, 2020. An investigation was opened after the tanker crew was found guilty for discharging dirty and oily ballast water and the fine amount imposed was around 173.500 US Dollars. The vessel's departure permission was suspended by the Harbour Master until the payment of the fine together with cleaning expenses. As of May 2, the ship remained moored off Iskenderun in pos. 36° 38.49' N 036° 10.39' E.

Pirate attack off Benin

The "St. Marseille" was attacked by a group of five armed pirates in the morning of Feb 27, 2018, while the tanker was at Cotonou Anchorage, Benin, in the Gulf of Guinea. Two Beninese guards on board were shot and wounded. The tanker was in ballast, and the pirates fled after they found no cargo. The crew was said to be safe. Tge tanker was taken to port and berthed at 9 a.m.
