Navy ship escorted Russian convoy

The 'Den Helder', in order to protect Dutch interests, followed the Russian frigate 'Neustrashimy' in the North Sea on Sep 20, 2025. The frigate, accompanied by a Russian merchant ship, sailed through the Dutch Exclusive Economic Zone towards the English Channel. The escort was intended to deter the Russians from carrying out sabotage and espionage and intervene quickly if they do. On April 24, the Dutch Navy had escorted the Russian frigate 'Admiral Golovko' of the Gorshkov class in the North Sea. On the morning of June 20, the Russian frigate 'Admiral Grigorovich' was escorted through the North Sea by the frigate HNLMS 'Van Amstel'.

Smoke development in generator room

On the afternoon of March 26, 2025, tThere was smoke development on the 'Den Helder-A 834',, the brand new supply ship of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The navy fire brigade took action. Personnel who were present on the ship have been evacuated. The smoke development originated in the diesel generator room. The cause was being investigated. There was no open fire, and no one was injured. Nothing could be said about the damage yet. The 'Den Helder' had arrived in the Naval Harbour of Den Helder on March 24. The Combat Support Ship (CSS) will not be put into service until Oct 1.
