Cargo vessel emergency anchored in Kiel Canal
On Oct 17, 2014, the "Rider" on its way from Malmö to Belfast suffered engine damage in the Kiel Canal near Fischerhütte and was emergency anchored Close to the Northern embankment at the Grünental Bridge. The "Borussia Dortmund", "Fenja" and "Reinbek" which were following could pass the vessel with very slow speed. The two tugs"Wolf" and "Wal" were dispatched from Brunsbüttel and towed the ship to the canal port where it berthed at the South Quay at 2.30 p.m. for repairs.
