Containers fell on bunker tanker

Wed Jun 13 09:47:38 CEST 2018 Timsen

In the afternoon of June 11, 2018, a stack of five containers collapsed and crashed down from the "CSCL Spring" onto the deck of the bunker tanker "Jinyou 8", which was moored alongside the container ship at the Pacific International Terminal in Tianjin. A twistlock failure was believed to have been the cause of the accident, which happened when a 40-foot container was to be lifted from the container ship, but didn’t go off smoothly and destabilized the containers below. The tanker apparently was damaged, the "CSCL Spring" suffered no or minor damages and left Tianjin on Jun 12., bound to Qingdao, ETA June 14.
