CSCL receives first 'neooverpanamax' 14,074-TEU CSCL NEPTUNE

Fri May 25 08:45:21 CEST 2012 arnekiel

CHINA Shipping Container Line (CSCL) has received the 14,074-TEU CSCL NEPTUNE, the last in a series of eight ships ordered in August 2007 from the Samsung shipyard for US$170 million each. These ships are "neooverpanamaxes" capable of carrying 20 rows of containers on deck, one box more than the maximum allowed for the new Panama locks, Alphaliner reported. The ships were originally aimed at the Far EastEurope route. However, the CSCL NEPTUNE is to join this week the Far East-Middle East joint service operated by CMA CGM, CSCL and UASC (AMA/CIMEX/ AGX 1). The CSCL NEPTUNE is managed by CSCL Star Shipping Co Ltd, a Hong Kong affiliate of the China Shipping Group, and is registered in Hong Kong. She follows the CSCL URANUS, delivered in March.
