Medevac off Skagen

On Feb 2 at 10.57 p.m. the rescue helicopter from Aalborg evacuated a patient from the 'Crown Seaways', en route from Copenhagen to Oslo. The ferry was sailing north of Skagen, when the patient was hoisted. He was then flown to the hospital in Aalborg for further medical treatment.

New name revealed

The new Swedish owner Gotlandsbolaget of the 'Pearl Seaways' and 'Crown Seaways', which had been serving the route København - Fredrikshavn- Oslo, have revealed the names of the ships they will have in future. The names will simply be 'Nordic Pearl' and 'Nordic Crown'. The 'Pearl Seaways' is undergoing major maintenance in Landskrona since Jan 2, 2025. Both ships will be serving the Oslo-Copenhagen route and have been handed over on Nov 1, 2024. in June 2024, Gotlandsbolaget had announced that after Oct 31 the company would take over the DFDS line after the Danish shipping company sold the line for approximately 400 MDKK. The deal included the two cruise ferries and just over 800 employees, who were also transferred to Gotlandsbolaget.

Patient medevaced in Norwegian waters

On Dec 31 at 10.23 p.m. the Rescue Center of Forsvaret was contacted and the medevac of a patient from the 'Crown Seaways' requested. The ferry was sailing in the waters of Norway off Larvik at that time on its way from Oslo to Copenhagen. Thus the person was hoisted by a Norwegian rescue helicopter (Lat. 58.7917 Lng.10.7550) and taken to a hospital for further medical treatment. The ship then resumed its voyage and arrived in Copenhagen on Jan 1, 2025, at around 10 a.m. UTC.
