Corvo towed to Oza
The 'Corvo', with eight members on board, contacted the CCS Coruña of Salvamento Marítimo on the morning of Feb 7, 2025, to request assistance for a mechanical problem 31 nautical miles northwest of A Coruña. The SAR boat 'SAR Gavia' has been mobilized, which took the vessel in tow and safely pulled it to Oza for troubleshooting. Crew member found dead in the water near his ship
A 66-year-old crew member of the 'Corvo' was found floating dead in the water near the ship on Nov 12, 2023, in the port of Ondárroa, where the longliner has its official base, which previously operated from the A Coruña town of Muxía and at the end of October was sold to its current owners in Noia (A Coruña). The deceased resided in the province of Lugo. The crew was waiting for a storm to subside so they could go back to work. It is unknown what happened between the time he left the ship and the discovery of his body in the sea. Neither the Basque Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Osalan) nor the Labour Inspection considered the death a work-related death, alleging that the worker was on rest days.
