Sailings cancelled due to engine trouble

Thu Aug 07 13:31:54 CEST 2025 Timsen

The 'Coruisk', serving on the route Mallaig-Lochboisdale, suffered a technical issue with the aft engine on Aug 7, which required the use of the berth at Mallaig. As a consequence, the scheduled 09:15 a.m. arrival at Mallaig and the 10:05 a.m. departure from Mallaig and the 10:15 a.m. sailing from Armadale, operated by the ferry 'Lochnevis' (IMO: 9209063), were cancelled. After the technical issue was successfully resolved, the previously cancelled 10:15 a.m. sailing from Armadale has been reinstated.

Ferry delayed due to possible fouled propulsion

Tue Apr 22 10:51:58 CEST 2025 Timsen

On April 19, 2025, the crew of the 'Coruisk', serving on the route Oban-Craignure, was investigating a potential caught creel rope in the propeller in the port of Craignure. As a result the following sailings were liable to delay or cancellation at short notice: Departure Craignure - 5:05 p.m. and 7:35 p.m. Departure Oban - 6:20 p.m. The ferry finally departed Craignure at 5:26 p.m., about 20 minutes late.

Ferry assisted in rescue of distressed canoeists

Fri Aug 25 11:43:59 CEST 2023 Timsen

The Mallaig RNLI boat was launched after group of canoeists got in trouble in the Loch Nevis on Aug 21, 2023, shortly after 5 p.m. Coastguard dispatchers had received reports of the struggling in storm-like weather conditions with strong wind and rain. Five people had been tipped into the water from their canoes, which had capsized, while another three people had made it to shore. Due to the issuing of a mayday call by the Coastguard, other vessels in the area diverted to the incident, including the 'Coruisk', which was carrying passengers, and a local on their RHIB. Three people were pulled out of the water by the RHIB, whilethe Mallaig RNLI rescued another two. A Yboat retrieved the three other people from the shore. All eight in the group were taken to the Mallaig RNLI station where they were warmed up and returned to Mallaig Harbour where they were left in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. The Mallaig RNLI returned to the scene to retrieve all the equipment in the water. The CalMac ferry provided observation from their bridge to assist in the rescue. The 'Coruisk' was then stood down and resumed the voyaGE to Armadale: the kayakers WERE transported to Mallaig harbour for medical attention by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
