Repair of damage completed

Barge suffered engine room flooding
The "Concession", 3227 ts (EU-No.: 02333267), suffered severe water ingress in the engine room in the evening Feb 4, 2017, in the Rhine port of Karlsruhe. The crew of the barge, which was loaded with scrap metal, was unable to cope with the flooding and alerted the fire rescue. It was found out that a blocked hydraulic stamp had resulted in cracks in its tube. Due to the location of the leak, a repair from the inside of the ship was not possible. Divers managed to patch the leak temporarily with the aid of a ship which came to assist. On Feb 6 the barge was allowed to proceed to a repair yard in Speyer and entered the yard port of the Shipyard Braun in the evening.
