Bulkcarrier refloated

The 'CL Rizhao' was assisted and refloated by the tug 'Coopor Estibador II' on Nov 9 at 9.45 p.m. The vessel then proceeded to Ramallo Roads to be inspected. The Coastguard will perform a bathymetric survey in the grounding area before authorizing navigation through river km 342 kilometres after the ship which had been loaded with about 43,600 tonnes of soya meal at San Lorenzo had run aground with its draught of 10 metres close to San Nicolas.

Grounding on Paraná river

The 'CL Rizhao' ran aground at kilometer mark 342 on the Paraná river below San Nicolas, on Nov 9, 2019, at 02.15 a.m. while sailing downstream loaded with 43.615 tons of soy beans. The channel was completely blocked. The ship’s next call was in Santos to complete the shipment, which was bound for Vietnam. The ship was stuck in pos. 33° 22.01' N 060° 6.59' W with the tug 'Coopor Estibador II' (IMO: 9769374) alongside.
