Five missing after landing craft capsized
On June 12, 2023, the 'Cipta Harapan IX' capsized in Karimunjawa waters, Jepara, Central Java. Six of the 11 crew members were rescued on June 14. The 'Sinar Sejati 2' was passing by and saw a crew member waving with a floating device. The ship's crew then evacuated five people safely from the LCT which was floating bottom up in the sea. The KM 'Kargo SK 3' resued one more crew member. The castaways were taken to Probolinggo. The Karimunjawa Police received information from Parang Island that two fishermen had seen the ship lying bottom up in pos. 109'47.235'E 5'39.430' S, about 30 miles west of Pulau Kembar, Parang Village, Karimunjawa District, Jepara Regency.It had departed from Tanjung Priok Harbor on June 9, and lost contact in the evening of June 12.
