Tug damaged ferry during docking manoever
On March 7, 2024, the 'Chacopata' struck the ferry 'Virgen Del Valle II' (IMO: 9235866) and caused a large hole amidships above the waterline at starboard side while assisting the ferry during the docking maneuver in the Port of Guanta, in the state of Anzoátegui. The tug was steered by a captain, without the expertise required to operate this type of vessel. The ship, the only operational ferry of Conferries, was sidelined for the necessary repairs immediately.
