14 migrants and one body transferrred to Bahamas

The 'Legare' transferred 14 migrants and one deceased person to the Bahamas following the interdiction of a migrant venture in Bahamian waters on June 27, 2023. The 'Legare' located and intercepted the migrant vessel while patrolling in support of Operation Vigilant Sentry at approximately 8:30 p.m. After intercepting the vessel, Coast Guard personnel recognized that a male migrant was unconscious and unresponsive. Crew members attempted to resuscitate and administered CPR for approximately 30 minutes, after which the Coast Guard flight surgeon pronounced the person deceased. The 'Legare' transferred the 14 survivors to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and the deceased person to a medical examiner’s office in the Bahamas for further disposition, including identification and notifications to next of kin.

Coast Guard cutter transferred 375 Haitians and two Cubans to Bahamian authorities

The 'Legare' transferred 375 Haitians and two Cubans to Bahamian authorities on Jan 24, 2023, following rescues in Bahamian waters. The 'Legare' had rescued a person in the water on Jan 21, approximately 60 miles south of Andros Island, Bahamas. The person reported they fell off their sailing vessel, which was spotted a few miles in front of the cutter. Additionally, the Coast Guard Cutter 'Angela McShan' rescued two Cubans on Anguilla Cay, Bahamas, on Jan 22, after an Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry law enforcement aircrew spotted them waving from the island. The Coast Guard Cutter 'Kimball (WMSL 756)' offloaded more than 11,300 pounds of cocaine and more than 4,000 pounds of marijuana worth more than $223 million on March 31, 2022, in San Diego. The drugs were interdicted in international waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean off the coasts of Central and South America, including contraband seized and recovered during eight interdictions of suspected drug smuggling vessels between late February and early March. The total amount listed below is 11,301 pounds of cocaine and 4,076 pounds of marijuana. The 'Kimball’ was responsible for one interdiction seizing approximately 2,295 pounds of cocaine. The 'Legare’s (WMEC 912)' was responsible for four interdictions, seizing approximately 4,714 pounds of cocaine and 1,826 pounds of marijuana. The 'Spencer (WMEC 905' was responsible for one interdiction seizing approximately 635 pounds of cocaine and 2,250 pounds of marijuana. Jointly, Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship 'Yellowknife (MM 706)' and the 'Kimball’s crews were responsible for one interdiction, seizing approximately 331 pounds of cocaine.
