Cruise ship rescued seven migrants in Caribbean Sea

The 'Celebrity Apex' rescued a group of seven people between Cuba and Mexico frin a small vessel adrift and in need of assistance on April 1, 2024. The ship’s crew immediately launched a rescue operation, safely bringing the people onboard. The crew provided them with medical attention, and was working closely with the U.S. Coast Guard. The ship had departed from Fort Lauderdale for a week-long cruise with stops in Key West, Belize, Cozumel, Mexico and Grand Cayman on March 30.

Cruise ship skipped calls in Israel due to violence in the region

After the Hamas' attack on Israel, the 'Celebrity Apex' changed its itinerary due to safety concerns over the violence in the region and altered course to Cyprus instead visiting Haifa on Oct 8 and Ashdod on Oct 9. The ship was sailing a 10-night-roundtrip from Piraeus which set off on Oct 6 and spend Oct 7 on sea now and offered an overnight call in Limassol on Oct 8 and 9.

Cruise ship rescued three migrants

Three Cuban migrants were rescued in the evening of Feb 25, 2022, about 50 miles from Cuba by the crew of the 'Celebrity APEX' from a rustic boat. Guests on the open decks spotted the raft, which prompted the vessel to change direction to be able to head towards the small raft. Due to windy conditions, the sea had been rough. Despite those conditions, the cruise ship could position the small raft on its leeward side. At that point, the three refugees could be picked up safely, while the dingy was seen to be taking on significant amounts of water. The cruise ship was on its way back to Florida at that time.
